The year started with the World Economic Forum talking, in its annual meeting in Davos, about the concept The Fourth Industrial Revolution. It was one of the main topics. A few weeks later I went to a speech and presentation regarding Internet of Things where the speechers talked also about the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Internet of Things, automatisation, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence,... the year continued with tons of news and articles regarding all these upcoming technologies which a few years ago we only knew from sci-fi movies.
The First revolution brought the industrialisation, the Second revolution the mass production, the Third brought Internet and the digitalisation and the Fourth will bring a massive change in how we interact with the world, built on top of the technology from the third.
In a few years (most people say within the next 5 years), how we interact with the world will change. How we interact with people, how we work, how we are connected to Internet, how we travel...
Nowadays we already have wristbands that tells you your health state or if your are sleeping well. Technology that notifies you where in the city there is a parking spot free. Or, there are tests with cars without driver. And this is just the beginning.
In a short period of time the world might change and we should be ready for that change. I've read a lot of concerns about losing jobs, have nothing to do... And it's understable. But, I guess that the people who experienced the 1st and 2nd revolution had all those fears also and here we are. It's just a matter of adapting ourselves to the new times.
